SOS Surgery® : Brow Bone Shaping

What is SOS Surgery®?

SOS Surgery AKA Supraorbital bone shaping surgery is a cosmetic procedure that involves altering the shape and size of the supraorbital ridge, which is the bony area above the eye sockets. This surgery is also known as brow bone reduction or forehead contouring.

The supraorbital ridge can have a prominent or heavy appearance, which can give the face a masculine or harsh look. SOS Surgery® AKA Supraorbital bone shaping surgery can help soften the forehead’s appearance and create a more feminine or aesthetically pleasing look.

During the SOS Surgery, the surgeon will make incisions either in the scalp or inside the mouth, depending on the desired approach. The supraorbital ridge will be shaved down or removed to create a smoother and more contoured appearance. The procedure can be performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, and typically takes about 1-2 hours.

After the SOS Surgery®, patients may experience some swelling, bruising, and discomfort, which can be managed with pain medication. The recovery period typically lasts 1-2 weeks, during which time patients should avoid strenuous activities and follow their surgeon’s post-operative instructions.

SOS Surgery® AKA Supraorbital bone shaping surgery is a relatively safe and effective procedure, but as with any surgery, there are risks involved. These can include infection, bleeding, scarring, and changes in sensation or nerve damage. It is important to choose a qualified and experienced surgeon who can discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure and help determine if it is right for you.

Anesthesia & Length of SOS Surgery:

General anesthesia is usually used during SOS® surgery (Supraorbital Bone Shaving) to guarantee the patient’s comfort and safety. Depending on the intricacy of the situation, the length of the surgery may vary, but it usually takes 1-2 hours to finish.

Combining Bella Eyes® or Trinity Lift® with SOS Surgery:

Since Bella Eyes® and Trinity Lift® surgeries are performed endoscopically using the same incisions, most patients undergoing one or both of the aforementioned procedures are advised to also undergo SOS® surgery because the prominent supraorbital ridge may occasionally act as a barrier during these procedures. Combining both procedures will undoubtedly result in a more satisfying outcome for the patient and the surgeon, as the recuperation time will remain unchanged. Because the incisions are made near the hairline, these techniques will produce a natural-looking result without leaving any visible scars on the face.
